Our Story

Our Happiness Program was launched on 1 September 2014 in Hungary. The founder of the program is Bella Bagdi, a Hungarian lifestyle developer, singer, motivational speaker, and president of The World Is Better With You Foundation.

The program was launched for a third season with great success: nearly 20,000 adults joined the program along with 3,200 teachers. The efficiency of the program is proven by more than 6000 case studies based on the results of positive psychology research. We have 84 Happiness Clubs in Hungary.

Happiness Program for Adults

We launched a National Happiness Program in Hungary in 2014 with the aim of increasing the happiness level of the population through the methods of positive psychology. The program currently has 20,000 members and the effectiveness of the program was studied by the Positive Psychology Research Team of Eotvos Lorand University led by Professor Attila Olah during a 10-month period. The professor made the following comments on the program: “… participants in the program have shown a significantly higher level of happiness and satisfaction with life after completion of the program…”.

Furthermore, Sonja Lyubomirsky, an internationally recognised happiness researcher at the University of California, also commented on the program as follows:”…This program including its contents and delivery method is a revolutionary initiative. Anyone who completes it becomes a completely changed person…”.

Our Happiness Program can be introduced and utilised in the workplace, in hospitals, retirement homes, schools etc. and can also be integrated into the life of families with the help of playful exercises.

“Participants in the program have shown a significantly higher level of happiness and satisfaction with life after completion of the program.”

Happiness Lessons in Schools

Our most successful project has been the Happiness Lessons Program in schools launched in Hungary in 2014 with more than 3,200 teachers and psychologists currently delivering and presenting happiness lessons to more than 50,000 children. The effectiveness of this program was also measured scientifically by the Positive Psychology Research Team of Eotvos Lorand University in the 2015-2016 school year. The results of this study have shown that the happiness lessons contribute to the positive development of the psyches and minds of school children, to their improved wellbeing and also to increased creativity.

Our Happiness Program can also be introduced and utilised in rehabilitation institutions, children’s hospitals and child care centres.

The effectiveness of the methods applied in the program is proven by the results of strict empirical research. The essence of the happiness lessons and classes is personal development and the teaching of skills promoting a positive outlook on life.

Happiness Manuals:

Our Happiness Lessons Program is the world’s largest happiness program with over 50,000 student participants from Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Ukraine, Serbia and Croatia.

Happiness Clubs

The Happiness Clubs have trained club leaders and they promote personal development of the mental health of participants, which may also be acquired on a practical level.

The aim of the Happiness Clubs is to invite participants to maintain a self-development “me time”, by which they can develop, be recharged and refreshed, while raising their happiness level at the same time. The Happiness Club wishes to offer help, inspiration and motivation to this end from meeting to meeting. The clubs were launched by the Happiness Institute operated by The World Is Better With You Foundation and they are led by trained experts. The meetings are unconnected with one another, so anyone can join at any time. A specific self-development me time program is also available for club members, which is based on the happiness research of positive psychology. Within the framework of the program, together with others or it can be tried individually, each one can see how they feel while practising the happiness-enhancing techniques which have been proven the most effective by happiness research. And all this in a playful, community-building way.

Happiness Research

Our main research partner is the Positive Psychology Laboratory of Eotvos Lorand University. The laboratory examines positive psychological phenomena (e.g. flow, psychological immunity, emotional intelligence, happiness strategies) from a biopsychosocial point of view.

The Happiness Institute does research in three fields:

Happiness MAP: We measure the happiness level of the population using international and domestic methods, in order to find who and where the happier people are, which the least happy towns are and who the least happy people are. We look for the reasons for this and make suggestions for a solution. We developed our research method in Hungary in 2016, and a detailed study has been produced on its results.

Happiness lesson studies: The goal of the research is to be able to verify the successfulness of the Happiness Lesson Program based on scientific data. The results of the survey provide the opportunity to prove, based on the incoming data, that positive experience states have a positive effect on mental performance, and in a positive condition the mind opens up and the individual will be more enquiring and more creative.

The effect of the Happiness Program on adults: Last year we measured the effectiveness of the adult program over a period of 10 months. We determined that the strategies for creating, enhancing and maintaining happiness can be taught, the participants in the 10 month online Happiness Program of the The World Is Better WIth You Foundation demonstrated significantly higher happiness and satisfaction with life levels on completion of the program.
